Including the latest victim who was arrested for a probation violation, when a medical emergency caused him to miss a scheduled appointment with his probation officer.nnBroome County Probation Department and Sheriff’s Office were aware of the man’s chronic illness and emergency hospitalization, he was still arrested for the violation and admitted to the jail without receiving follow-up treatment. This man requested placement in the medical unit, citing extreme pain and discomfort. His request was denied, and his pleas for help became increasingly desperate and disruptive throughout the afternoon — reportedly resulting in his unit being placed on lockdown.nnDuring lockdown, the man experienced recurring bouts of vomiting and diarrhea, and began passing blood. This prompted the man’s cellmate to make additional requests that the man be placed under medical observation. Those requests were also denied.nnTHIS IS MURDER AND YOU SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. 1312.

Most of the officers are really nice but they don't take care of inmates' medical needs.

The sherrifs themselves may be okay people but the jail is a nightmare. Abusive and cruel corrections officers, dirty bug infested living conditions, and inedible food. The poorest residents of Broome county are sent here because they can not afford to pay the outrageous bails set by the city's corrupt judges. I was put here for 2 weeks on a violation because I couldn't afford the $800 bail. This jail is run and managed by a crazy old man who supports cruel and unusual punishment and looks the other way when the corrections officers hit and punch inmates some have even been killed and the officer responsible still works here. This guy needs to retire because at his age I'm not sure he's mentally able to run a jail (Alzheimer's disease and other age related mental illness) or he just still believes that punishment techniques used in the middle ages are still acceptable. I wouldn't wish my worst enemy a stay in this jail.

I'm an Out of state bondsman that had a fugitive run to your area. Dispatch was great and so was the seargeant who showed up to make sure everything went smooth. I appreciate sherriffs offices like yours that understands the court process and makes sure everything is done by the book. I don't recall the seargeants name but 5⭐ to him, thanks again!

I love our law enforcement but I feel too many times politics get involved in Broome County Sheriff Dept. That's why I can only give 4 stars.
