Strawbery Banke Museum

It is a really cool layout because so many buildings next to each other are all old so it feels like you're walking around an old town. Due to some combination of the weather and the pandemic it was really quiet and kind of dead, But I get the feeling if I go back at a later date it is going to be really cool. Even with everything quiet we walked across the street and by the water and it was cool to stroll around through the historical spaces.

The Banke staff and management had made a public ice skating rink! Tickets for family needed when open. My friends and I enjoyed walking around the pier as tourists.

I went ice skating at the pond, very nice. I did not go into the museum, but will definitely be back when it is warmer to go.

We stumbled on Strawbery Banke by searching for things to do in Portsmouth and we couldn't have been happier with the experience. On the surface, it appears to be a regular historical old town but it is one of the most entertaining museums you can come across. This is because while you are exploring the historic grounds, you encounter live role players reenacting characters from various time periods, these characters are extremely knowledgeable and make you feel like you are living a day in their life. Also, pro tip, you can park in their parking lot until 9pm allowing you to explore the downtown area without having to pay for parking after your visit at museum. Definitely worth a visit.

Amazing time at SBM every visit. The history of this place is fascinating. Definitely worth the visit if you haven't been.
