Nice state park a short drive from Valentine. The park has a nice trail to the tallest waterfall in Nebraska, and access to the Niobrara River. The is a small visitor center, and nice picnic areas. You will need to pay a fee to access the park, and the road to the main parking area in dirt/gravel. Enjoy.

The park was clean and easy to navigate. It looks like they take really good care of the grounds.

Smith Falls State Park allows one of the best park experiences. To me, this place is a wonderful area to bring your family to go camping, or to even enjoy the forest and waterfalls. The park staff are helpful as much as possible, and the maintenance team is working hard everyday to help monitor and maintain the park. There is a wonderful hiking trail that loops around, showing off multiple ecosystems all at once. On the trail there are so a couple of streams that are fed by waterfalls. The camping experience is very basic. No electricity is provided, but I don't mind. I am a basic camper, myself and like to throw up a nice tent and just enjoy the outdoors. The superintendent of the park is very helpful and kind, and is always around to help where it's needed. All in all, Smith Falls State Park is a beautiful park for families to come and visit.

Only got to see pictures, as I didn't make the 30 min walk (one way) in 107 degree heat and broken ankle. I did manage to see pictures of the one and only 70 ft waterfall, which was beautiful. As I waited in the comfort of my AC controlled vehicle, I noticed several tourists on verge of passing out, non of them carrying water.nIt would've been nice to see some sort of warning signs, not only detailing the distance but also suggesting to keep hydrated during 1 hour hike.

Who knew about these falls?? Amazing, especially around 6 am. Campground was primitive and the road was less than that. If you aren't prepared for rough, very bumpy roads, don't come here. Rattled everything loose in our camper.
