IF you look up Belmont Tunnel, you would find it’s the only RR tunnel in Nebraska of which makes it of interest to those who find railroad structures fascinating. To those who have seen tunnels, that is what it is and nothing more.nnNow.. It is accessible by waking on the east side of the BNSF ROW from Belmont. Understand, you cannot cross the tracks. And DO NOT even attempt to drive to the tunnel. BNSF employees do use the tunnel as their service road and there are occasional rock falls.nnLocals use the inside of the tunnel as a location for ‘memories’. Read about its history and pictures. Not really someplace I would recommend visiting. Aside from the road crossing, there are no ‘NO TRESPASSING’ signs posted. Again, stay off the BNSF ROW.
