While many schools in the area are advancing in educational curriculum, methods of instruction and reaching out to stupids on an individual basis is help ensure success with each and every student, Capac just does not do that. For those students that fly under the radar, the school can be seen as one with little problems. If there's no issues to attend to, then there won't be any issues for the parents of that student.nnI've spent months of volunteer time within the school, and thus was able to get to know the staff on a fairly decent level. The teachers themselves are what you expect. Most are mediocre, some are down right horrible and should have never chosen this profession, and then you have the true gems that have developed a teaching method that comes from years of experience in providing each student the best possible education. You'll find this in most schools.nnThe problem with Capac schools is their directive towards providing that education and grade promotion from the perspective of the administration. For those that don't know, administration (especially the principal and superintendent) are given bonuses based on the performance of the students. During my time there, I found myself teaching the class I was assigned to while the actual teacher had students take the same state tests day in and day out (for the two months I was there) until they were able to complete it at a satisfactory level. The methods in which the curriculum was taught did not prepare the students to take they tests so it became a guess until you pass scenario.nnI approached the principal (Ms. Kish) about this, and my concerns that some of the students are not yet prepared to progress to the next grade. Her response to me was that we don't hold students back. They'll eventually catch up.nnTo me that is not a beneficial way to run a school, especially from from a person that has been trying to become a superintendent for the last few years. (Thank God it hasn't happened yet) When you don't have administrative staff equipped to handle and guide the structure of the school so that students have the best chance to succeed, then you have a failed school district.nnI went to Capac as a student years ago. The number of students was on the rise. As I see it now, more and more parents are coming to their wits and pulling their students out. There are much better schools in the area, such as Memphis or Yale. Don't keep your child in Capac if you are unhappy with the education they are getting. You have a choice, and Capac can do nothing about it except to improve their methods of education and caring.
