I was pulled over for speeding near Saugatuck. Personally, I'm terrified of police and don't often have positive opinions of experiences with them. So I figured I'd share this one good run in with the police. I had my 3 children with me and I was shaking, so scared he would scar them and leave them hating police forever. I tell my kids police are here to help n whatnot. I thought the officer might be one of those bully cops and I wouldn't be able to convince my kids to trust them again. But he was super laid back, kind, and straight to the point of things. The kids were scared at first but by the time we pulled off, my youngest (4) couldn't stop talking about how cool the cops are and how the cops are her best friends ud83dude02. He gave them coloring books with their sweet cars in it. They were all pretty excited about that, but especially the 4 year old. She thought his car was amazing. Thank you for being nice to my kids, and to me. I got a speeding ticket which I fully deserved, as I was flying. But it could have been much worse. Officers like Mr. Dekker are making a huge positive impact on the relationship between officers and civilians in our community. Thank you for your good work! My kids are still talking about what a cool police officer they met :D
