This place is full of roaches, the walls are thin, the neighbors above me are rude, and the laundry room key works on my bottom door locks. I call have reported these things and no response. I got a chance to speak with the father Boyd A. Jarrell only to be told that these people have been here over 5years and they have a right to live in there house you are the new person and if you don't like it why don't you move. He went on to say these people work as if I do not. I record our conversation and told him he was being record. I call the village on him to report. If I was anyone do not fall for the cheap rent because what may sound good is not always good. I do not want to give a star, but because I have to give on its really 0.

They wanted to much information and made me feel unsafe to even go see a apartment they wanted to know what street you live near and your address you live at now what type of car you drive, the name of the Real estate company you rent from, your state and driving license, you job address and number, plus your Credit score. All before even seeing the place. Never in my life. Then was rude when I didn’t want to give them my address because I didn’t feel safe.

My mother and I recently experience rude and terrible customer service from a female who called herself the manager. I also informed her that I will be reporting her and this company to the department of aging for rejecting my mother 79yr old even before she was able to put in an application and before my mother was able to tell her anything about herself.nnPlease renters beware and forth told.

Today (7/10/20) I was finally able to view a 4 bdrm (supposed to be 2 bath per add on realtor.com, but was a 1/2 bath) on the south side in Washington park. In short, once my appointment began, my overall experience was terrible. The person who represented this supposed real estate company did not represent well at all. She didn’t bother to introduce herself or refer to me by my name at all. She was nearly 1/2 hr late for our appointment and there was no call or outreach regarding the no-show/lateness. Once she returned to the unit I was touring ALONE, she clearly wanted to skip the question portion, but since I did have some, she responded to my questions as though she was bothered about the nature of my questions. More about leaving me during the tour... This had nothing to do with COVID. We both had masks. She left me in the unit while running around to the other units/bldgs she was taking care of (lease signing, etc) when she should have been at our appointment. Our appointment was scheduled for 10:40am. She returned to the property after 11am (I’m able to say this because I noticed her car return from when I first pulled up.) When I asked about how the unit would be prepared prior to move in, she said they might come around and dust/sweep (only said because if the amount of dirt on the floor. The baseboard heating units were literally falling off of the wall, however when I asked about that, she walked over to one of the falling pieces and was like... well... (as she tried to push it in place). She was dismissive and didn’t really answer the question. In a puzzled manner, I inquired why a property management company/real estate company would not have their units cleaned professionally. She stated that the apartments came as is, given that the rent was discounted ud83dude33ud83dude33ud83dude33. I expressed that I was seeking a SAFE and peaceful place to live, and also wanted to have confidence in the building management of those who owned the property - knowing that they had a level of pride in attending to the building environment and maintenance needs. She appeared bothered by and dismissive about that question prompt as well - sharing that because she was licensed, she couldn’t tell me the area (said do my own research), and was vague about other people they sought to rent to. The pictures posted on realtor.com were very misleading (They were clearly from right after the unit had been “renovated” and well before the last renter). She stated that the property had been vacant and was in the condition it had been since renovationsud83dude33ud83dude33.... not with baseboard heating units and other stuff falling off the walls. You would think that because it had been vacant, they wld have taken advantage of that time to prepare the unit, but that’s not what they’re about at all. They are hands off h less you are signing a lease. They could care less what conditions people live in. Soooo sad. The property had so much potential... such good space. It doesn’t appear that anyone even cares for the grounds. This company appears to purchase property, discount the rent, and let the chips fall where they may. This is such a wasted opportunity to create a healthy living environment with caring, responsive, and responsible management. I tried to contact someone in leadership, however, that was unsuccessful. I really wanted to share my experience with hope they would consider the lasting poor impression they had on me. I didn’t want to beat them down, but just share in the sense that I believe in them as a black owned company to want to do better. I could go on, but why bother. Boyd A. Jarrell & Company won’t be changing. SMH
