The apartment itself is nice and spacious. The landlords are sweet when you first meet them, and as long as you're paying them cheques every month. However, the landlords are always confused and lack basic communication skills. Privacy was a concern as the main doors of the building were not locked for the first few months of living there. Additionally, the landlords would give tours of the apartment without informing us prior to bringing a group of strangers into our home. Our fridge stopped working within the first 3 weeks of moving in and it took them 6 months to fix it and return it to us. At the time of move in, our washer was broken and there was no hot water. Worst of all, they created such a fuss over returning our deposit cheque to us. For 4 months we were constantly trying to contact them as they seemed to have had a difficult time mailing our cheque to the right address and putting down the correct names (just two of the many issues encountered). They were incredibly unorganised. Whenever we would contact them for our deposit returns, they were rude and petty, essentially calling us cheap for wanting our deposit back.

While the actual apartment is nice and the maintenance guy is fantastic, the landlords are HORRIBLE at communication. They never once answered an email, were rude over the phone, and lost several of mine and my roommate's rent checks. They often came in to show the apartment without any warning, and seemed to take offense when we asked that they call thirty minutes in advance. Overall very unorganized and as a result, minor issues became huge stresses. None of my roommates will be returning.

My friends and I have lived here at Second and Daniel for 2 years now. Both years, the apartment has been nothing but fantastic for us. Not only are the building owners personable and helpful, but the apartment itself is very spacious (especially compared to all other apartments around Champaign-Urbana), clean, and efficient. Each apartment also has its own balcony large enough to put tables and chairs out with a great view. Overall, my experience has been very satisfactory and we would all highly recommend.
