The leasing agent Celia, (I think is her name due to never introducing herself to me or my wife at a rental showing) gave us the worst possible experience in searching for a rental property. The lady was very rude, unprofessional, and made us feel like we were wasting her time. She is a poor representation for this company, and after reading other reviews, I should have never wasted my time with so many other reputable companies here in Abilene.

I was cheated out of a large portion of my deposit.nI rented a house from them for six months. Throughout my stay, I had difficulty getting things repaired. Everything in the house was in poor condition and falling apart. I never missed a payment and I stayed in agreement with the contract. When my 6 months was up, I cleaned the house thoroughly and left it in better shape than when I got it. A short time later, I received a letter in the mail containing a check for $260. It was explained to me that the remainder of the $400 deposit being $140 was for general cleaning. When I contacted the realty company in reference to this, I was told that there were scuff marks on the wall and broken glass in the oven. The scuff marks on the wall were there whenever I moved in and I annotated it in the notes. If there was glass in the oven it was not from the time that I was there, but had to have been there from prior. This was a very small house and it did not cost $140 to clean it.nI was unable to resolve this issue. I was told by an employee that it was at the owners discretion on whether or not to return the full amount of the deposit. I was told that I could file a complaint, but there's no guarantee that it would go anywhere.nI do not recommend using this company for any purpose whether for rental property or buying a home.

Tom and the folks at Cooksey & Company are great. I had a major plumbing issue with my kitchen sink, and Tom and Randy showed up within 20 minutes of me notifying Karen at the Cooksey Company office. Randy, Chris, Tracy, and David worked hard for two straight days until the issue was fixed. I recommend Cooksey & Company highly, and I'm living proof that if you ever need anything help is just a phone call away. I've never had help arrive faster. You can't go wrong renting from Cooksey & Company.

I rented one house for two years from them, the house was filthy when we got there , we had to pay to get the ac fixed. They never once inspected the house to make sure we were taking care of the place and we deep cleaned everything when we left because we wanted our deposits back and they would not give us our cleaning deposit back. When I contested it and asked what they had to clean they said they paid a company to clean the crown molding which there isn’t crown molding in the house. Cooksey is a truly crooked company. As a management company they will not take care of your investment and as a renter they will take your deposit no matter what and they definitely don’t clean the house with it
