so the people in the office are very nice. But unfortunately that's the best I can say about this school.

The issue I had mainly with Deepwater Elementary was with Mrs Johnson the Music teacher! She is the most hateful, unprofessional, rude & racist teacher I have ever encountered! It’s quite clear that she is unhappy and miserable and ready to retire so she takes it out on the poor children! She doesn’t have a passion for music or kids you never see her smile, always a frown and bad energy every time I have seen her in the hall way, I was a part time parent volunteer at my sons school and the kids all have the same sediments about Ms Johnson and that is she is so Mean and sadly this is true. I personally had to have a serious conversation with her and the principal because she tried to kick my son out of a music program for wiggling during rehearsals. I emailed the principle Mrs Box and made arrangements for my son to be included back into the program and the day of the performance me and my entire family were present to watch my son sing in the music performance however my son was no where to be found, she ignored the instructions of the Principle and had my son sitting in a class room by himself during the entire performance. I was so livid! I immediately found the principle Mrs Box and Mrs Johnson and had a come to Jesus meeting with them both. Never have I had my child be treated in this manner because he is a straight A student and never had any disciplinary issues while at DPISD so I knew I was standing up for what was right on behalf of my child. I feel so sorry for the children that have to be in her music classroom on a daily basis because there is no joy of learning music with Mrs Johnson, she is basically hanging on for a Paycheck until her retirement rolls around and that is very clear, she has clearly lost her passion for teaching, for music and mostly for the kids if she ever had it in the first place I would be surprised..everyday my son came home complaining about “The Music Teacher” I was beyond happy when my son transferred schools due to moving up to the next grade. I have a great love for music myself and it’s sad that my son lost out on the experience during his years in elementary school.nTo make up for one bad apple I thank God for Mr Chester the math teacher! He taught my son to embrace his love for math. Mr Chester is so passionate about teaching and the children we need more teachers like him,Mrs Johnson could definitely take some lessons from him.nMr Chester was a God send and a blessing to my son can’t say enough positive things about him, he is a super star of a teacher and I wish him the best of luck, he took out the time and patience to explain difficult math lessons, he mad sure my son stayed focused and made math exciting for him and for that my son scored highest in his class on the starr test, my So. is now in Pre Ap math classes and avid! I’m forever grateful to Mr Chester! He rocks! DPISD is a great school district except for a few bad apples!
