Captain Dennis Hobson pulled me over for “excess speeding” right in front of the sheriff’s office in Tunica. He approached my car and I took my seatbelt off to get my wallet and insurance card. He told me I was speeding through a 15mph zone. He took my information, went back to his truck and wrote me up for not having a seatbelt on AND excess speeding. He didn’t write how fast I was going. When I explained to him that I took my seatbelt off to get my wallet and insurance card and that I would appreciate it if he would retract that citation he simply said “goodbye Mr. Cofield” and walked back to his squad car. I followed Hobson back to the station looking for any indication that the area was a 15mph zone. All I could find was a sign reading 30mph and one in the heart of the town reading 25mph. I made a formal complaint to the sheriffs office so I am hoping to hear back from them. Just thought people should know that Dennis Hobson is not afraid to lie to you when you are pulled over and he will write up for citations you did not commit. That is all.
I wasn’t aware you did personal policing/security for the casinos in Tunica. Shame their own security people can’t handle a small fender bender and feel the need to have 2 of your deputies come out on something all parties agreed on wasn’t serious and could just be buffed out.
