Kirkwood Station

Door was locked when I came up and yes someone was in there. They didn't unlock it until a group came up. It's too cold for that

Kirkwood City needs to pay the volunteers that work here. The building gets neglected yet Kirkwood City can build the $30 million unneeded performing arts center when some four or seven other theaters with stages are around Kirkwood for Stages and other productions.

Very nice station. Friendly volunteer staff, and a great place in general. Great for train watching, too.

The volunteers are very helpful at the Kirkwood Amtrak station as the reviews indicate. Lyle, a Tuesday volunteer provided outstanding customer service on my recent visit to the station to get parking information. This morning one of the volunteers was initially rude but later changed his attitude and offered assistance. Overall, I enjoy departing from the KWD train station.

Built in 1893. Best railroad station in Missouri, one of the best in the nation, several Amtrak awards, volunteer staffed most of the day and evening, and for the four daily Amtrak stops. First stop west of St. Louis, Missouri River Runner stops at Washington MO, Hermann, Jefferson City, Sedalia, Warrensburg, Lees Summit, Independence and downtown Kansas city at Union Station. Connects there with Amtrak Southwest Chief from Chicago to Los Angeles. Eastbound River Runner connects in St. Louis with last two trains each day to Chicago and the southbound Texas Eagle to San Antonio.
