Massage Envy

I called to book a massage and I mentioned the earliest available date. We agreed on the day and the time but when I went to my appointment they said they accidentally booked it for the following week. How serious is this?

So I really don’t write reviews, because very few people check them it seems. I should have on this place. I travel quite a bit and enjoy a massage every now and again. I officiate college basketball and lacrosse and my legs get pretty beat down. My wife and I decided to run down for one night and stay at the Wildwood Hotel and ski the next day at Hidden Valley. Unfortunately, it rained and the ski area closed so my wife suggested I get a massage and relax for the night. So I booked a 90 min. massage at massage envy in Wildwood. I was asked to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out some paperwork. I thought that unusual but arrived as requested. I was given a cup of tea and an iPad. Then I had to give my email and my personal address, phone number and several other informational items, that maybe necessary at a doctors office, but for a massage? However, I did as requested, no questions asked. My appointment time was 4pm and it was now 5 till. So I waited and at 4:05 pm a nice young lady asked me to follow her to a massage room. She as usual gave me a minute to disrobe and get on the table. I looked at my watch and it was now 4:12 pm. She came in and the massage began. As she began the massage I noticed people in the very next room were laughing and talking quite loud. This went on for sometime, so finally I asked, is the” break room next door”?She answered, “no it is people in the massage room next door hanging out”. I replied, “well it’s really loud and honestly, it’s hard to relax when I can hear every word they are saying”. She said it happens so often she doesn’t even notice it any more. She said, “I can turn the music up and I can turn on this fan that makes a lot of noise”. Lol! Ok. Let’s do that. The fan was loud, Ha, and it did the trick and covered the loud voices. She continued. Then in what seemed like no time she said “that’s it, you may put your clothes back on and I will meet you in the hall”. I thought man that went by fast. Then I reached over and look at my watch... 5:25? I dressed and stepped into the hallway she gave me a cup of water and was off down the hall. So I moved to the front desk where another young lady inquired, “how was everything?” I responded, “I requested a 1.5 hour massage and it was 12 after when I arrived and it is now 5:30. My massage began 12 minutes late and ended 5 minutes early? I said that’s 17 minutes, I didn’t get and I was here 15 minutes early”. She responded, “that’s normal procedures. We allow about 15-20 minutes for disrobing, re-robing and consultation”. Ninety dollars please. Wow! is all I can say. I am 54 and never in all my years have I experienced that kind of robbery. So let’s get this straight.... if I book a 90 minute massage , I really get 70, but have to pay for the full 90. If I book a 60 min massage , I will only get 40, but have to pay for 60!nOk, so I received no consultation. I filled everything out on an IPad 15 minutes early. I disrobed in seconds and re- robed in Less than a minute and yet we started 12 minutes late and ended 5 minutes early! 17 minutes, How is this time I should pay for?nPlease understand, I am a fair man, not much bothers me, but this was kinda crazy and I feel as though it should be made up to me somehow.nJust sayin, not cool.nnScott Wilson

Don't ever sign up for the membership here or you will be robbed.nnMassage envy cancelled two appointments in one month yet still charged me for that membership. I cancelled because of this and they charged me again a month later.nnRefuse to acknowledge that my dissatisfaction and reason for cancellation was because of their issues with staffing and scheduling, and felt that it was acceptable to charge again even though I had clearly indicated I was not satisfied with their services or would be using them again.nnSpoke to Allison the assistant manager who had a very bad attitude about it and refused to acknowledge that there was a right way to do things to treat customers the right way. She was just happy to point out that because of their shady membership contracts that they are within their rights to take my money and not provide services.nnI indicated that I would be complaining and she seemed OK with that.nnBottom line - if you value being treated as a person deserving of respect, STAY AWAY FROM MASSAGE ENVY IN WILDWOOD.

The gifting of three massages was sweet of my son. However l have found the franchise is not consistant. I arrived early for my 8pm massage yet the masseuse didn't start the 60 min service until 8:06pm and she was finished by 8:50pm, my sprint cell time...nI booked day of (athletic/deep tissue massage). The level of the massage reflected last minute servicing.nMy son gifted me one year of massage envy, three months @ a time, however l called and told him no thanks as after 3 out of 3 uneventful MASSAGE experiences l will stick to private services.nThe best part of my experience was the quiet room where l enjoyed a cup of tea and magazine as l awaited 8pm...l can say Wildwood location had a spa like atmosphere while Brentwood isn't even close.

Have had several times where my appointment has been canceled because someone went home sick, and they don’t have someone else who can cover. At least offer to reduce the cost of the massage if you’re going to inconvenience me.
