Absolutely fantastic experience!!! Timothy, our guide, was an amazing local historian. We arrived at museum at around 1:30 in the afternoon, upon arriving we saw the size of the museum. Thinking to ourselves this won’t take long, we couldn’t have been more wrong! 2 1/2 hours later Mr. Timothy completely filled our appetite for history. Taking us on a journey from before the dinosaurs to present day. Filled heavily with 1850-1950’s lure. Inside the museum, you will find anything from prehistoric shark teeth to documents signed by Lincoln. If you arrive on a Saturday like we did, you might just get a chance to ride on a gas powered trolley. With the help of Timothy, you will discover modern art, artists’ studios, churches restored from flames, cemeteries, & turn of the century hotels with wealthy eccentric owners. Thanks for a day of discovery Brian, Jenna, & Hudson 12/15/2018.
This museum is a hidden gem in Alexandria. I was truly surprised by how many historical items were there. Timothy the curator was very friendly and knowledgeable. If you love history be sure to stop by this museum.
Small but interesting artifacts. This museum holds a variety of items that relate to Louisiana's unique history. The curator was well informed about the state's history, and was willing to answer any questions. A must see for a Louisiana history buff.
Fascinating museum. Free to enter. This place has a gallery with a lots of items from different times of Louisiana history. The curator gives free tours. If you want to learn the history of Alexandria and Louisiana, I would recommend swinging by
Great little museum. Lots of local history. The guides love their job and are excited to tell you all of the history.
