La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Lake Charles Casino Area

Travelocity booked me for this hotel and when I arrived it was destroyed by the hurricane. Travelocity took my money anyway and booked the stay even though they were closed due to the total destruction of the building. Had to stay at the truck stop that night as this was 2 30 am when I arrived. Better yet, Travelocity advised it was non refundable. No biggie, I had my credit card take it off for me. The hotel was in a good location and I have had great luck with la quinta in the past. I would recommend once they rebuild, but never use Travelocity to book. Always book through the hotel direct. Wishing all who were affected a positive recovery from the damage.

Pretty much my go to around the Lake Charles area. They are always nice, rooms overall are tidy. The beds are nice and comfortable too. The pillows are slightly dated, some are balls of discomfort, but we bring our own when we travel. It is centrally located in town. Close to the casino, and lots of local shopping. Within minutes of everything.

Kinda gross. The beds seemed to be clean (which is a pretty low standard) but the room, 101, smelled like a nasty wet dog. It stunk in there. There were no soaps of any kind, we had to ask for them (not a huge deal), and the blow dryer was missing (not a huge deal either). The smell was the most off putting but we were so tired we just needed to sleep. There was some gross stuff on the curtain, stains all over the carpet and so on. The entire room was in a state of disrepair it seemed, and was just generally a bit grimy. There were other minor things that you can see in the pics. So, not REALLY terrible but I've stayed in quite a few La Quintas but the room we had was the worst I've been in. Maybe they aren't all like that here, idk.

None of the employees wore masks for the first three days of our stay. None of the guests were wearing masks or social distancing. When I asked about mask wearing front desk informed me it was optional and she chose not to wear a mask. I don't blame staff, I believe this is a management or organization issue. We could not cancel our reservation without losing money, also we evacuated during a tropical storm and had pets, so we felt our options were limited

When it comes to cleanliness!! dog and cat hair we’re on the mattress cover protector. I asked for management to call me about it.. still waiting
