A must see in Central Louisiana. Is a good, short road trip from Pineville if you're looking for something to do. Go back in time!

Lots of good history that may soon be forgotten with the educational trends here in the US now.

I love this place. I was raised here, as was my Dad and my Uncle. Had many relatives in town. My Dad was born in the old Terrell house on the left as you come in. I look at it and I can still see it in the late 50's and early 60's. My Grampa was the Station agent here for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. I get homesick every time I look at Google Maps. I still have many old photos of the folks who used to live here.

Great place to learn about forestry and forest history. Train ride through the woods is cool too.

I came here on a whim a few months ago. It was very small, but also a lot larger then I expected. The museum hosts a few buildings, but the old general store is where a lot of the display items are. The man who was at the front desk was very polite. They have a room in the back of the general store that is ten dollars to see, and there is also a special tour around the area for a few dollars, but he gave me a free tour of the basic museum. It is full of history! All kind antique items, most of them related to the logging industry that exploded in the South between the 1870's and 1930's. The man there really knows a lot about that period. I was only there for 25 minutes, but it was well worth it.
