Emory Police Department

I wish I could give zero stars, or even half. EPD does not take crimes seriously as their process involves further abusing the victim and coddling the criminal even with substantial evidence. When you go to the station to report that you were assaulted, they will laugh at you and call you a liar. They intimidate, lie, and deceive victims of violent crimes and have no understanding of basic investigation tactics for crimes all the while making up laws such as it being illegal to record police, which is very obviously not true (I have no idea where one officer heard that it’s highly beneficial to keep in communication with a perpetrator following a crime). They deliberately put my life in danger and not only refused to help, but made it impossible for me to get help elsewhere. They refuse to collect important evidence against the suspect and have continued to treat him like the victim from the start. They determined that I was lying from the day I decided to press charges and treated me as such. There is a difference between what they did to me and due process.nnThey minimize the trauma of the victim because they believe that their interactions with the criminal and police are adequate in determining his, as they say, cooperative personality. None of the investigators are on the same page and your forensics kit will most likely not get processed in a reasonable amount of time due to EPD’s negligence.nnUnfortunately, you can’t move cases to APD or DPD if the crime occurs anywhere affiliated with Emory. I’ve communicated my issues with both them and various departments and administrators of the university already and they have chosen to either blow me off, ignore me, argue with me that I’m lying, or tell me that there’s no way EPD could do such a thing. As such, EPD continued this behavior at all costs for almost one full academic year. I asked the police chief to help as he might have access to the countless recordings that show how mediocre this police department is and he chose to do nothing as the treatment continued.nnI’ve proven time and time again that they are abusive through various means, some extremely desperate, and they refuse to either change or hold themselves accountable.

I made an appointment to get my fingerprints taken the day before, and when I came in the next morning everyone was friendly, I was taken care of quickly, and the service was great!

I had to do multiple finger prints for work and they were so patient, friendly and very efficient. Wonderful group of people.
