My son was was forced to move due to a promotion at work. He religiously continued to pay his rent while working through social media to help get his studio apartment re-rented. Recently, he noticed that his apartment was no longer listed for rent on their website. He contacted them and was told that they did not have a signed lease on this apartment so that they could not help him.nnOn behalf of my son, I called their office and asked them specifically about his old apartment. I was told that if it did not show on the website it was more than likely no longer available. I asked them if they would be kind enough to double check and, the office assistant, Christine White, told me that indeed the apartment had been rented. When I asked her why they were still collecting rent from my son, Christine became very rude and said, oh what I meant to say was that the apartment is no longer vacant. When asked to clarify what the difference was, she said they didn't have a signed lease.nnAfter my son contacted the person that he knows is now renting the place, he was told that the new renter indeed did sign a lease with Mark Thatcher Real Estate and that they had actually moved in on November 1st. Several phone calls and emails back and forth with Mark Thatcher Real Estate have resulted in my son and me being blocked and my son's online account being deleted. He still does not have his November rent back, nor does he have his security deposit, nor do we have any way to contact them because we have been blocked. The last thing they told us was that they did not have a signed lease. Even after my son showed them the texts back and forth with their current tenant who, stated that he has indeed signed a lease with them.nnA formal complaint with the State of Wisconsin has been filed, but it's my understanding will take some time for me to get my son's money back. Please, do yourself a favor, and look for another place to rent from.

Cockroaches year-round, Black mold, leaking ceilings, neglectful landlords, this place has it all. Better not plan on getting your security deposit back, your amenities will fall apart before you can say “cheapskate”. On top of raising rent and decreasing attention to detail, there’s really absolutely no upside to Mark’s slum dungeons. If I were you, I’d keep at least 50 meters between you and ANY of his “establishments” AT ALL TIMES, unless you enjoy dry-heaving.

I lived in apartments owned by Mark Thatcher until this year.nnAt first, I enjoyed having parking, and I will say I never saw any bugs or critters the apartment so 1 Star for that...but the security is non-existent.nnThere were two break ins in the year I was there, one where every apartment was stolen from, and a second 9 months later and only in my unit. There were also break ins in the basement, but the company decided it was more important to put cameras there than in any other common area. (Like the hallways or outside)nnOnly when I presented the police case numbers did they let me leave at the end of my lease (only a little under 60 days notice). They originally asked for 60 days but I could barely stand the last month and some change I had to sleep there.nnWhen I would call and reference what had happened, the woman would almost joke about it- probably to make light, but cmon. Read the room.nnI am always going to wonder who violated my apartment when I was gone, but I’m pretty sure it’s one of my neighbors who constantly knocks on everyone’s doors asking for beer. One time, he knocked on my door at 6 AM.nnI wouldn’t recommend.

Apartment flooded 7 feet worth of water in the basement, they let it stand for a week before they did anything. Their apartments are affordable for a reason. F these guys big time.
