Yesterday I got pulled over with a friend in the car for having expired plates. I am a 17 year old male who just got my license 3 months ago. I also did not have proof of insurance inside the veichle. The officers were very understanding and polite, and they gave me a warning to reniew my plates and show proof of insurance.
If it wasnt for officers Hemmings, Gurke, Oswald, and Mueller this review would have been 0-1 stars. Officers Brinks and Todd have consistently harassed multiple teenagers within the past year. Last summer I witnessed at least 3/4 customers at the Jackson Pub complaining about their own kids being watched and being issued tickets almost every day, being searched without reason, and being charged for nicotine devices they were given consent to have. Unless an adult was present there was an officer nearby waiting to find any reason to stop them. Underage vaping and smoking weed should not be a first priority, this is washington county, heroin is an epidemic in fact there were multiple overdoses at the motel, Ive seen plenty people walk out of both bars clearly intoxicated and drive yet officers are sitting around watching kids waiting for them to commit a crime without warning no matter how small and unreasonable it is. There are bigger problems they should be focused on as in hard drugs or heavy crimes. Keep the village safe instead of putting our kids who cause no harm in handcuffs. To the officers mentioned earlier, thank you for protecting and serving this village the way it should be.
