Washington Park

My sister and I have been living at Washington Park for nearly a year now. The community is warm and cordial and the grounds are kept very nice. The management is willing to listen and solve issues as they arise and, the maintenance crew is diligent, knowledgeable, and courteous. While I've (fortunately or not) lived in many different complexes over the years, this is one I can say has come to feel like a true home.

I lived in the Washington Park Apartments in Ogden, UT for 9 months and I wish i would have never moved in there. First of all when i moved in i was told my unit had been completely updated with new lights, faucets Ext. I found out it was not and i called multiple times and was told it would be done (i paid enough in rent that i felt i should have the updated stuff) after awhile i called again to see when i would get the updated stuff and was told due to the pandemic they were on a purchasing freeze, although TROY the maintenance man told me they has an already purchased package sitting in storage but they were waiting for me to move out of the unit to install it, even though i had just moved in a month prior. Fast forward to 7 months later i spoke with The manager Marilyn and told her that i wanted to buy a house and asked if someone can take over my lease and she told me no, and said that i could pay two months worth of rent to buyout of my lease, so we decided not to because we did not have that type of money. a few days later she told me that someone that was living in a 2 bedroom in the same complex wanted my 3 bedroom unit, so that if i wanted to move out i could go and she would let me out of my contract with no buyout as long as i put a 30 days notice and paid my lasts month of rent. She is now saying she never told me that and now she is trying to come after me for over 1700$. She asked me if i seen the condition i left my apartment in, (not knowing that i took pictures) it was in move-in condition other then the carpets needing to be cleaned from me living there for 9 months. (regular wear and tear). I took pictures of the entire apartment and i plan to fight this bill. I moved out on SATURDAY October 31st and returned my keys that next Monday the 2nd and they are charging me 89$ for having the keys over the weekend although they were closed! They are also charging me over $400 for rent from 11/3-11/14 because the new tenants wont pay rent until 11/15. Even though i was completely out of the unit on 10/31. Also Marilyn told me that the maintenance man Troy would assume that my kids were leaving trash all over the outside area of the unit although all the trash was broken Barbie's and pink toys and water bottles. Mind you i have 4 boys whom do not play with Barbie's and pink toys and i also have a water machine so i don't purchase water bottles, Marilyn knew that Troy assumed it was me so she told me that i did not need to pay the fine that they left at my door.. I knew that Marilyn wanted me out of that unit, as soon as she caught wind that i wanted to buy a home, she called me multiple times to see if i would be putting in my notice. I was never late on my rent, so why you would want a good paying tenant out of the complex is beyond me. Things were not going as planned with buying a home so on 10/27 i sent Marilyn an email and asked if i could stay in the unit and she told me no because they had already rented it out, i asked if there was another unit me and my family could go into and she told me no and that we needed to be out on 10/31 since thats when i put my notice for. A few days later there was another 3 bed 2 bath unit posted online that she was trying to rent out. Please avoid this complex and save yourself the stress of being lied to. I have been in contact with the corporate office and If they make things right, i will update my review.

This review is solely based upon my experience with the apartment manager, Marilyn. I have never lived here. I have not been inside one of the apartments. I was just thoroughly impressed with the kindness, concern, and care that Marilyn shared with me as we discussed the apartments. She is absolutely fantastic!

I've lived here for 15 years. My experiences here have been very positive. When ever I've had issues Troy has responded in a timely manner and taken very good care of us. Getting the job done right and making sure I'm kept in the loop. The ladies in the office make time to speak with me when needed.

I moved here about a month ago, so enough time to get the hang of things. I am very much of the belief that the community is as important as the actual apartment. The staff here are amazing. They try so hard to help but they also are ethical and hold the residents to a standard, which I feel is completely fair. Troy is amazing and has saved us from an emergency of water flooding my bathroom from a neighbor upstairs.
