I have had nothing but a positive experience here. John showed us multiple duplexes on a few different occasions and was flexible with last minute schedule changes. We love the duplex we rent. John has always gotten back to me in a timely matter. We had maintenance done on a bathroom fan. The guy showed up right when he said he would and was in and out with in 15 minutes and fixed our fan. Overall, thumbs up!
I rented a townhouse (Tower Place Townhomes) in Hudson from these jokers. Maintenance took ages. Had a dishwasher sitting in the garage for two months waiting for the install which took under an hour (and only happened after repeated calls on my part).nAfter moving out, they canceled my move out walk through, and then denied my deposit on a bunch of bogus grounds. Including their tile install crew making a mess of the tub, and charging for replacement of the old upstairs carpet. The townhouse had been occupied continuously longer than the accepted wear and tear replacement time for rental carpet.nDon't rent from them if you can avoid it.nnNot surprised you can't find my info. This was several years ago, and it took me sending letters via certified mail to even get a response out of you guys.nnAnyway, the point is, if you want to get any of your deposit back, document everything. Get pictures before moving and and moving out, and be prepared to go to small claims. Learn from my mistakes.
Have had my house rented and managed by these guys for more than 5 years. They always find good tenants and they always communicate. I saw some reviews about the company being online or not phone based as complaints. I wouldn't have it any other way. It's 2018, who wants to talk on the phone?
I want to share my experience so hopefully this won’t happen to anyone else. On May 1st, last week I was standing outside of the townhouse I was planning on renting with my brother. The movers were waiting with me with a truck filled with all my belongings waiting for the manager to show up with a key to let us in. After calling and texting John for an hour with no response I was forced to scramble and find a storage unit for my things which wasn’t easy on the 1st day of the month. The movers helped me to make some calls and we found one in River Falls, 6 miles away and were lucky to get that, luckily my brothers apartment hadn’t been rented yet or we both would have been homeless or had a roof over our heads. We had given John our large security deposit in February and I then looked for movers which he was aware of all along. I spent 1,500 over two days time for the movers and the only place I got to move to was a storage unit. Together we spent 3,200 for our security deposit 3 months prior to the move and the day before the move were told one of our checks hadn’t cleared but at no point were we told that the lease we had signed was null and void. Had this information come to light sooner it could have been fixed and we either could have honored the lease or made other arrangements and looked for another place. All along when trying to communicate with John by text or phone call we wouldn’t get a response and had to keep trying over and over. The night before the move, we both got a phone call about a bounced check and never were told we couldn’t move in. It was never explained and the way this was handled was unethical, and he knew I had movers that were hired and they would arrive the next morning at 10am and didn’t have the decency to let us know we couldn’t have the place or even let us know so we could look elsewhere. I called the main office in La Crosse and was very upset, understandably so and after my second call the woman there told me I was harassing her and she had no concerns or sympathy at all, even after I told her I couldn’t reach John and was supposed to be moving into my new home. My rating for this joke of a rental company is -0 and a John is a liar, a fraud, a coward and unethical and has no business running the company. I now have to deal with getting my belongings out of a storage unit 6 miles away and have spent thousands just trying to move into this place. I was undeserving of all of it, nobody deserves to be treated like this and my brother is lucky he still has his original apartment until he moves elsewhere. My check didn’t bounce and I never got the chance to look for another place, even though I got the security deposit back my life has been turned upside down and didn’t know I wouldn’t be moving in until the morning of the 1st while waiting outside with the movers. Please be advised that renting from this place would be a huge mistake and take the time to look elsewhere.
This was by far the worst rental experience I have ever had. After signing the lease and paying the deposit, the renal manager could not care less about me or concerns about the rental property. He was impossible to get a hold of. He ignored our valid concerns about privacy, given that there were several people living in our property before we moved in and we only received one set of house keys. We asked to have the locks replaced as we were concerned that the previous tenants still had copies of the house key. He claimed he would do this, but never followed up and ignored follow up requests to get this done.nWe were clear from the beginning that we were going to adopt pets after we settled into the house. Once this came about, he continuously ignored my texts and phone calls and flat out impeded my adoption for my cat. He refused to even email the shelter (as this was a policy they had) and I had to go through a different route to adopt my cat. When he FINALLY got back to us about the pet addendum and pet fee, it was a different fee than what he gave us originally.nMy overall experience with this company (specifically Jon) was terrible. The townhouse itself was lovely, but that was not enough to deal with the awful management. He was impossible to get a hold of and did not seem to care about mine or my roommates concerns about the rental. I will not be working with Croix Rental Management again.
