I could go on and on about how much I dislike this school. But to save you the hassle of all that reading I’ll break it down. First off, my son went to Tanner for 4k and kindergarten. When we moved, we were put into the Hean school district. Naturally, my son attended Hane beginning his first grade. Right off the bat we started having issues with bulling. As a concerned mother, I called the school in hopes to resolve the issue, but go figure nothing was done about it. The bulling issue went on all year! I did the best I could considering my limitations, but the issue never stopped. His teacher, nor the principal, did a single thing about it except move a kid to a different seat in the class room. But even that only took place after the other kid pushed my son down to the ground. When he did, my son smacked his head on the floor and had to be monitored by the nurse. The only person who attempted to do anything was the guidance concealer, and thank goodness for him!nMy other areas of complaint are the lack of communication from the school. There just isn’t any communication at all. If you ask questions no one seems to know how to answer them, instead they beat around the bush and claim they will find out, but don’t. Or if you let them know that your child needs help with one thing or another like remembering to hand in a library book for example. It just seems to go in one ear and out the other. My last major issue with the school is the lack of decent education. I don’t know if it was just my son’s teacher or the school in general, but let me tell you how disappointing it is to watch your child slowly revert in his education with the school at fault. He was learning the same thing over and over and never anything new. When my husband and I first noticed, this happening I contacted his teacher and stated the problem. I asked her to please challenge him more. Come to find out, her idea of challenge was to have my son help her out around the classroom cleaning and things. Seeing nothing was being done to properly educate my son, my husband and I took the liberty to educate our son ourselves, even more than we did before. We work with him on reading, math, spelling, money, time and science. All of which are barely in or not in at all, Hean’s first grade curriculum. Hean’s main concern in education is pulling up the kids that are behind and leaving the other kids who are excelling to waste time.nNeedless to say, my son will be attending second grade at New Direction Learning Community this year. My Daughter will also be attending NDLC 4K there this year, and I have every intention to have my youngest attend when he starts school. For NDLC meets and exceeds mine and my husband’s expectation of what education should be.
