ServiceMaster RRH - Appleton

My experience with Service Master was, shall I say, less than wonderful. I awoke on a Monday morning to find that my sump pump had failed. I immediately did a Google search for companies in the Appleton, WI area who handled these types of situations. I contacted Serve Pro of Appleton as they had the best rating, (Much Higher Than Service Master). I was told that they would have someone at my place later in the day. I then called my Insurance Company USAA. This was at 7:45 AM. Much to my surprise, there was a knock on the door at 10:10 AM and it was a representative from Service Master. They told me that they had been contacted by USAA and were there to begin the clean up. I thought it was my lucky day. I was mistaken. While they did get the basement dried out, their work was shall I say less than professional. First, my basement is a complete disaster. I certainly get what their job is but they showed no care in moving anything. Second, the day after they had finished and removed all drying equipment, I checked the USAA website to see if they had been notified. Much to my surprise I found that not only had they been notified by Service Master of the charges, they had already sent them payment. The issue here is two fold: First, USAA never sent anyone to my home to look at what had been done, and Second and biggest issue of all, USAA paid Service Master based on the bill that was provided. The problem here is that Service Master submitted a bill to USAA that was grossly exagerated! They charged us for moving items that they never moved, cleaning floors that they never cleaned, and replacing items to where they had originally been taken from. The best we can figure, they overcharged us approximately $500. This may not seem like alot to some folks, but when it's coming out of my pocket and going to someone for something that they did not do, I have a huge issue with that! If you use these people, proceed with extreme caution. If an insurance claim is involved, make darn sure you communicate to your Insurance Company that you do not authorize any payment until you have had an opportunity to look over the charges.
