Recently I went to apply for a rental from oak realty. I was shown one rental but by the time I turned in my app (4 days later) the realtor said it was already rented out, he told me of another house but it wouldn't be ready for another month so I was unable to view but he gave me the details and told me I could drive by it. I paid the $25 application fee for this house because he assured me I'd be first in line and I really needed to move so this was my only option. What he didn't tell me before taking my money was that my credit score would effect if I would be approved or not. You think they would mention this because most people know their credit score and wouldn't waste their time or money knowing this information. My credit score is low but it's from medical bills that I am in dispute with the hospital about because they billed me instead of my insurance. Also the realtor never called my current landlord, none of my references and never called my employer. And usually anytime a company runs my credit, credit karma alerts me but I wasn't alerted this time so I don't even know how he knew my credit wasn't good enough. He also never got back to me about the application, I waited over a week and decided to call and check since I knew background checks don't take that long especially since I have a clean background. When I called told him who I was and that I was checking on my app, his response was " uh oh yea the... The credit wasn't good.. So." How professional huh? He had no intention of calling me and letting me know my credit wasn't up to oak realty standards. I honestly think he judged me based off appearance. I'm 29 but I look fairly young, I work graveyards for a security company so I tend to have a tired look to my face. And I drive 2016 car (that I bought brand new and paid off btw) but the front end has damage and it's just not in my budget to drop that kind of cash right now to fix cosmetic damage. I believe he knew from the moment meeting me he wasn't going to rent to me and took my money anyway. I called a few other realty companies in the area and asked if credit score mattered when renting. All of them said only when having to do with evictions or bankruptcy, that they are mostly concerned with criminal history rather than credit history. So either oak realty has a extremely high standard when it comes to their rentals that other companies don't have or that guy Eric was just a pos that pocketed my money. Either way I will never deal with them again. My landlord is selling this house and has said he will not deal with them either.

The most unethical, unprofessional, and dishonest business. Don't waste your time and find a REAL business that is based on RESPECT and HONESTY. This place is a JOKE!
