Birth place of the republican party. We are so honored to have this in our state of WisconsinnWe had a gentleman give us a briefing of the movement. Wonderful place. Stop in and check it out. Well worth it.

It is small so only spent about 30 minutes to an hour of time here. Learned some interesting unknown facts. So I think it is worth a visit, especially because there is no admission fee.

A lesson in history. Everyone needs to keep learning. Nice short review about the republican parties' creation. Docent was acceptionally knowledgeable.

Very small you could probably take in everything in 15 minutes. Was surprised that even though it's the original schoolhouse it's not the original location. This is where a group of Whigs, Northern Democrats and Free Soilers would form their own party that would gain the presidency with their second presidential candidate (Fremont was first) and change the face of politics forever. The party has changed a lot over the decades and learning its history is vital to understanding American politics.

Amazed how many people don't know the parties SWITCHED between 1850's and the Civil Rights. The start of today's GOP probably started somewhere in TN around Andrew Jackson's stomping grounds. Cool to see where the actual first Democrats actually gathered though!
