It funny I sit here and read the reviewsnMy understanding of this is like a store or a rep for the doors they carrynSo don’t toot your horn if you don’t know the story. My understanding is that a lot of this product is hauled by truckers who sit endless hours to be loaded then travel on sleep derivationnTo make sure your product arrives in time and in a safely in matter ceco makes the doors . Yes Iam one of those trucker s that haul freight to your shelf’s. We are not Keebler elf’snYou just don’t say poof and it appearsnI came out of Milan tn I sat for over 8 hrs waiting to be loaded the trip is an 11.5 hour day it’s over 650 milesnMy question is can you sit for 11 hrsnIn traffic in Chicago in MilwaukeenAnd delivery the product . In a safe and timely manner. ? So the next time you get mad at the rep go talk to the maker first 90% of the people haven’t a clue where when and how this product gets there on time

CUSTOM FIRE DOOR ORDER REVIEWnnMy experience will go down as the Custom Fire Door order that was apparently beyond LaForce Inc's capabilities. I needed a larger fire door for my home. The online distributor did not want to get involved in a special/custom configured order so the door manufacturer referred me to LaForce. I contacted LaForce and explained that all they needed to do was contact the manufacturer, request the price for my pre-configured door, calculate their selling price and provide me a quote to order from. LaForce unilaterally decided that they could do better “in-house” eliminating the manufacturer I had worked with. This is where it all starts to go bad.nnAfter picking up the door assembly on 10/26/2017, unpacking, inspecting and during the installation I found several manufacturing errors. After contacting LaForce about these errors I was told that it is “standard prep”. “Standard prep” is not acceptable when one purchases a custom door at a premium price. I was also told that these errors are cosmetic in nature. Not so when doors are machined incorrectly and not level/parallel.nn1). The door slab factory machined a huge cavity into the inactive door behind the strike plate that is beyond what is necessary to accommodate the throw of the latchbolt. This cavity measures 94mm (long) x 32mm (wide) x 30mm (deep). This size of cavity might be necessary for a mortise lock application but that is not applicable to my order. The latchbolt hole in the strike plate measures 32mm x 17mm, the throw on the latchbolt is 12mm – 13mm. This cavity is three times longer than it needs to be, two times wider than it needs to be and three times deeper than it needs to be. This compromises the structural integrity of the door at the most vulnerable point. A steel supplementary strike plate box had to be purchased to strengthen the inactive door at this point.nn2). The latchbolt plate mortise on the active door was not machined large enough to accommodate the mounting plate of latchbolt assembly. One of the pilot holes was drilled incorrectly so it was necessary to glue plugs into that hole so the latchbolt mortise could be re-drilled correctly.nn3). Mis-drilled/misaligned strike plate pilot holes on the inactive door. I needed to glue plugs into the pilot holes so the inactive door could be re-drilled correctly.nn4). Either the door silencers or the door closer reinforcement plates were located on the wrong sides or wrong ends of the frame head component. The field fix was to relocate the silencers leaving holes where the silencers were originally drilled. These holes are now visible from the “exterior” side of the frame.nn5). One of the jambs of the frame was not mitered where it joins to the frame head. This needed to be field corrected and cut to fit.nn6). The hinge mortises on the active door are machined into the door 3.175mm (1/8” – 0.125”) higher than the hinge mortises machined into the inactive door. This lowers the active door and creates a larger/uneven gap along the frame head on the active door compared with the gap on the inactive door. It also exceeds the parameters as set forth in NFPA 80 on allowable gaps between doors and frames. The door is non-compliant in the present state even with the intumescent edge seal provided with the door assembly.nn7). The door astragal was not included. I contacted LaForce about this missing part and was told that astragals are not included in such an assembly. This is contrary to what was specified on the LaForce quote that I purchased the door assembly from. The astragal was shipped to me but they neglected to include mounting screws. This astragal is simply a pre-drilled plate of 16-gauge steel with an edge that is not rolled or exceptionally finished making it a scrape hazard for those persons using the door. A protective vinyl strip has been installed on this edge so as to make it less of a hazard.nnI would not recommend LaForce Inc for such products or services.
