i really enjoyed the history of the museum. It is not a large museum but one gains an appreciation for the skill and hardwork that is and was involved. There is an historic mural depicting the progression of slate mining. The upcoming festival of lights will be a delight dor young and old. the gift shop was reasonable prices. The highlight of the museum is the friendly staff! There is an immediate bond formed. They give a talk if you want it and since they have lived there it is an attachment. Highly recommend this place.

Not only for out of towners, something for everyone here. A wonderfully displayed collection telling the story of slate and the industry tied to it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It's evident to see the love that the curators have for slate in the way there museum is set up. They also have many events throughout the month, and year, some as fund raisers some free to attend. Their festival of trees at Christmas time is stunning!!

Small museum, but worth a stop if you're nearby or interested in the local history. The area is/was one of the largest slate producing parts of the world and it's facinating to learn about the local industry, see the tools, etc.
