DAR John Strong Mansion Museum

It’s only open on weekends during the summer, but, if you have a half-hour or so and like antiques and history, this is a good stop.nYou get a guided tour. On the day I stopped by there were two docents. One tour was wrapping up, and I was locked out until it started.nOf all the cool stuff, my favorite was the self-closing door hinge. It dates from the 19th century. Why was this technology forgotten?nNo photos from inside, so all you get are exteriors.

The volunteer staff (DAR) did an excellent job touring our group through the home and they very good at explaining the history with enertaining detail. Thank you for preserving our history and telling their stories.
