We went on Veterans Day and I got in for free as a Veteran, so I can't comment on value, but my very hyperactive son had a great time seeing all the air planes, space ships, statues, and everything else. We just walked around looking at everything without reading the plaques or talking to the various volunteers who seemed to be Veterans themselves (I wanted to keep him interested ud83dude05) He didn't like the zoo very much, but he loved seeing all the cool stuff inside of the museum. They are fully following all Covid recommendations, and it's a large space that even on the holiday wasn't very crowded. I think it's worth the drive from the major surrounding cities to go down and check out. If you took the full serious tour of both the air and the space museums, it would probably be about 2-3 hours. Very fun and interesting and highly recommended!
It's a bit pricey, but the collection and people are great! So many airplanes you just don't see in one place.
This place is amazing. I brought my two boys, 4 and 8, and they loved every second of it. I had a really great time too. We liked the Spruce Goose. I had a big wave of nostalgia because I had come here as a kid before they built the new building. The SR-71 truly is a a sight to behold and definitely the highlight of the trip for me. Seeing it as a kid stuck with me all my life and revisiting it in my adulthood was just as magnificent as I remembered ❤ud83dudcafud83dudcaf
Kids had a great time. The planes and jets were fantastic. I would suggest more interactive exhibits that hold the attention of the kids. Some of them are quite old, and others don't function. Kids these days are used to using computer and high-tech gadgets and the exhibits, for them, are like going back in time and don't hold their attention for long. I also understand that the types of exhibits I'm speaking of come with a price and that is probably a huge factor. Other than that, we enjoyed our time and will definitely go back in the future.
After we moved to McMinnville, we visited the museum. It was phenomenal. We bought a year's family membership. Now every time friends or family come to visit, this is on the agenda to see. From the Spirit of St. Louis to the Wright Bros. plane (facsimiles) to the Spruce Goose (the real deal) there is something to see and from which to learn. And the Space Museum is amazing as well. So worth the time.
