This place has potential, great place to bring the kids. Lots of space for the kids to run and guess what's its indoors. No food available, Museum shops, Shops Etc, Minor DC info. Kids seem to love it! There is a fee. Very clean and spacious restrooms. Separate large family area. Overlook areas available relaxing.
One of the best views in town. Entrance is from the back of the building by Starbucks, directly across from the Metro elevator on 12th Street. There is an exhibit on the lowest level telling you about preservation in Washington, DC. The first level you exit for the tower is the bell ringing floor and there is some information there to look at but you mostly have to ask the Ranger to tell you. The topmost level is the viewpoint. 360° open air on two sides but contained with bars. Signs tell you what you are viewing. In the winter, around the Solstice you can watch the sun set. Note: the viewing platform closes at 5 but last entrance to tower is at 4:30, though you may be able to view the preservation exhibit at this time.
To get to the bell tower, walk behind the Trump hotel to the Starbucks on 12th street. Next to it is the door for the elevator to the pavilion. Great history and photos when you first enter telling the history of the building. The views are great, and there weren't many visitors here. It's worth a visit.
If you want to see the city from up high this is far better than the Washington monument. There is a small museum which is really a hallway with pictures of the history of the old post office. Then you ride up an elevator to the top and get to look out onto the city. They have helpful signs that point out landmarks in all four directions. No, you don't have to go into the Trump hotel to get to this although you will walk through a hallway that is technically part of the hotel. Enter at the door next to Starbucks.
Excellent place! Thank you Trump for turning this VACANT mess into a beautiful museum for the PUBLIC to visit for FREE! He didn't have to do that but it's beautiful. Excellent views from a historically significant landmark that's now saved for generations to enjoy.
