Gresham Police Department

So rude and unhelpful. I would give them 0 stars for making me cry and stressing me out beyond belief when I was carrying a baby inside of me. They turned me away when I was 8 months pregnant after I had waited in their empty lobby for almost an hour with evidence from a car theft. The receptionist was very polite and friendly but when an officer finally came out from what looked like a very quiet back room she was cold and took the bag from my hands and said “Here, I’ll throw this away for you.” In a heartless voice. I said, “Oh wait, you’re not going to get the fingerprints?” And she said “Nope.” And turned away from me immediately. And I said “oh wow so I waited that whole time for nothing?” And she said “sorry.” In a monotone and disappeared into the lifeless office again. One of the most stressful times of my life as my phone was at about 5% battery and I had no idea how to get home from there, I was new to the area. It was pouring rain, completely dark out, I had driven an hour to get there right after I got off of work, wasted all that gas. I was starving and also had no water or food with me. And it was my boyfriend’s car that had been stolen and he had no way to get to work and had actually had his car stolen while he was at work. I had to go to the sketchy neighborhood on my own after work where the car was dropped off by the thief and stripped of its valuable parts to get their nasty Carl’s Jr. remains from the car since it would have had their greasy fingerprints all over the containers. I used plastic gloves and everything. I went through all this time and effort, basically doing the police’s job for them, for them to turn me away and do nothing to help me, when all I was asking them to do was get fingerprints off a junk food container and convict the criminals, which is supposed to be THEIR JOB. What the hell are we paying them for otherwise??

This review is specifically pointed towards Officer David Joseph of the Gresham Police Dept. We had made a call regarding an identity theft issue that affected our business. Officer Joseph was at our business location within 5-10 minutes of us calling, which is almost unheard of, and was incredibly attentive, kind, and helpful the entire time he was here. I have to say, this gentleman's attitude and work ethic is EXACTLY how the Gresham pd should represent themselves. What an outstanding officer! I would happily work with Officer Joseph in the future, because I know he truly cares and will go out of his way to assist and look after the community. Great job Officer Joseph, I wish the public could see more guys like him because he is a perfect example of a law enforcement officer who truly cares about his community. Thank you for your hard work, it does not go unnoticed!

Do not attempt to help these people!nnI tried to help them out and got nothing but misunderstanding, contempt, and rudeness. All they did was try to make me feel stupid, horrible, intimidated and overall like I was a terrible person.nnNone of the people I spoke to wanted to listen, they just wanted to make me feel bad that I had called at all.nnI used to hold all police departments in the highest regards and would go out of my way to help any of them that I could when I could with what little I have.nnBut never again will I attempt to contact Gresham Police for assistance in any manner, or report anymore events or crimes to them.

GPS is amazing. The staff is helpful and courteous. The officers are exceptional, persistent, smart, and observant. I am proud we are protected by such an amazing group of people.
