Excellent bus stop. Scenic views of the beautifully congested Parramatta Road.

I am a 75 year old pensioner with hip problems. My nearest bus stop is the Cnr of Sloane Street & Parramatta Road, Summer Hill – buses 480 & 483 from the CBD to Strathfield via Ashfield. The bus stop number is 213022.nnThese two buses are either late or do not turn up at all for up to 1 hour and 15 minutes and I have been forced to cancel numerous doctor appointments.nnI’ve sent a great number of online complaints to Transport NSW but they just pass them on to Burwood Depot. Burwood Depot states that the delay is because of work being carried on in the CBD, but we have had this problem for 2 decades.nnEven if this excuse were true - how does bus route 461, which travels along the same route from the CBD to Summer Hill, still get through together with 3-4 buses which are marked 'NOT IN SERVICE' because whilst I’m waiting for either the 480 or 483, four of the 461’s will go past and at least three ‘not in service’.nnThis happens between 8.30am to 10.30am.nnI’ve heard it said that there should be extra 480 & 483 services between 8.30am and 10.30am but that Transport NSW is not willing to provide this.nnOn hot days it’s excruciating waiting for these buses because the bus shelter provided by ‘Adshell’/Ashfield Council does not serve its purpose because it provides no protection from the sun in the morning, nor protection from rain and us elderly people are forced to either get behind the bus shelter or the nearest telegraph pole.nnReturning from Royal Prince Alfred Hospital last year, after Radiation treatment, 5 days a week for 4 weeks, at the bus stop on the Corner of Missendon Road & Parramatta Road all the other buses in the area: 440, 436, 437, 438, 439, 413, 412 turn up every 10 minutes or so, the 440 & 438 one after the other, and they also come from the CBD.nnLast year I complained to the ‘Western Suburbs Courier’, and after the article came to print, Transport NSW stated that improvements had been made and buses were only late 6% of the time.nnThe elderly and mothers with babies in prams, who depend on this bus service, are being penalised because NOTHING IS BEING DONE.nnAll we can assume is that the drivers of these buses are having a breakfast break in the CBD to our detriment OR the buses are breaking down due to not being properly maintained.nnIt's even worse on Sunday mornings because the 483 only runs every hour up to midday and if the bus doesn't turn up I am late for family lunches etc.
