Hotel Beach House Garden City

Went there for breakfast this morning. Had the big breakfast and not dissappointed at all. Breakfast, lunch and dinner here does not disappoint. Lad who served us this morning was also bright, friendly and hospitable!

Upstairs balcony is a must, great area for groups and for abit more mood. Having the balcony overlooking the courtyard is great for photo moments.nnLifesaver Chicken and Lamb Shank was our choice tonight, fantastic flavour and great portion size to fill any hungry adult.nnMeals came out quickly, and great selection of beers, wines and spirits made the night even more enjoyable.nnThis was my 4th visit and still thoroughly enjoy this restaurant.

My husband ordered chicken wings as a starter, one of the wings was raw. Then came out his Eye fillet steak ($40) ordered medium rare, which was blue and raw. Mentioned it to the waiter who apologised but then came back and asked if they could just put it back on the grill to cook it more.. That response was a bit of a let down considering the high price we actually paid for the meal and if it was recooked it would just completely dry it out. So obviously asked for a new one, and once it came out it was immediately clear it was not an eye fillet and was well over cooked, and was also slapped back on the same original plate with original salad and original chips that had now gone cold. Unfortunately won't be going back

I am a local to the area and regularly enjoy a cold beer and a meal here. The beer is cold and the food is good. Thankfully. However the staff seem to use their work time to socialize with each other rather than serving their customers. A smile would be nice instead of the poor body language that comes after a customer does interrupt that social chat. This comes from personal experience and watching it happen to others on many different visits . All that aside I was most disappointed when I visited on Boxing day. Everything including food had a 15 percent surcharge applied because of a public holiday. You are the only licensed establishment I've ever gone to that does this. Then on top you add a further surcharge on credit card transactions. Double dipping. Very poor form owners/management, especially during this time of contactless payments and social distancing. These surcharges certainly don't pass the pub test. Please thank the kitchen staff, as they are the stars in your business.

As a return diner to beach house I can attest that it has consistently served good food and provided great service. Even at busy hours, the wait for food is minimal. The upstairs deck is generally more quite and provides an excellent view of the plaza, so I recommend sitting up there if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Garden city. In my opinion, this is one of the better eateries in the area and makes an excellent default when with an indecisive group.
