Moonta Mines Museum

Fantastic museum. The mining displays are first class, and very informative on how the mines were operated. Large collection of rock samples was good to see, showing the various finds from not just Moonta, but around Australia. An excellent museum, very educational, and great value.

Very good models of mines, machinery (outdoors too), and explanation. Displays (with Cornish), photos and cartoons of everyday life, including some unique collections and donations made every room in the museum interesting. Tourist train was highlight, as Ian the driver provided additional commentary at each stop. Tickets sold out quick (at 1:10pm) so we couldn't get on the 2pm train (but bought tickets for 3pm) due to social distancing and school holiday families. We didn't mind the wait as we spent that hour back in the Museum.

Impressive selection of local relics displayed in convenient format. An asset and credit to local volunteers.

Had very interesting ride on the train at Moonta mines. Staying at Port Broughton with friends. Off to Wallaroo and Kadina tomorrow. Had a lovely day looking around Wallaroo. Came home today
