North Gregory Hotel

A home away from home! We stayed at the North Gregory Hotel with two young children. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The best thing about this hotel is the warm and welcoming feel from the staff. From the moment you step in, you feel like you are at home. The food is amazing, and we really appreciated the "deconstructed burger" your chef created for our bread-hating child. The lobby is a place where all guests can just relax and feel at home and enjoy a visit from Winton ambassadors, like Caroline, with fascinating stories about local history to tell. We still miss heading down to the spa and listening to Gregory North's poetry and the music from Vic Pascoe. Thank you so much to Richard and the amazing Marilyn and Margaret for making our stay so memorable.

Friendly and supportive staff and we had a great sleep. Unfortunately, no public phone in Winton and our mobile service out of range. A family member called with an emergency but hotel policy meant they couldn't hand their phone to us or allow us to use it to return the call even when we wanted to pay for this service. No problem there we got reception when we arrived in Longreach.

We were actually here, watching Gregory North (3 x Australian Champion Bush Poet) and his show about Banjo Patterson in a very pleasant shaded beer garden. Pricing variability for the same drinks ($14.50 first round $12.50 second round) was a concern as was the temperature of the drinks - in my opinion they were too warm. Highlight was the recording of the Dunny Race for the Australian version of "The Amazing Race" right out front of the hotel. So much fun. Winton just keeps on giving....

They have done a great job doing this place up. Everytime I come in it just looks better and better. The beer garden is the latest, and looks great.

Stayed here on the way back from Birdsville with three mates on a motor bike trip. What a find! Beautiful Art Deco building with a large courtyard that featured bush poetry in the afternoon followed by great live music. Rooms were clean and country comfy. Dinner was the best food we ate on our ten day adventure. Staff were efficient, warm and inviting. Many thanks to Marilyn who looked after us after a long dusty ride. Great breaky next door which I believe is part of the Gregory.This is a must do experience if your heading that way. Congratulations to management and staff on an outstanding experience. This was definitely a highlight stop for us all. Next time we will stay longer to experience more of what this location offers. World class country experience!
