I liked up at this Queensland Transport Centre in Phillip St for 45 minutes this morning. Due to Covid there is a desk that you check in at.... there was long delays as there was 1-2 girls working behind the counters. Considering it wasn’t ‘lunch time’ and what seems to be a busy morning period unsure why there was so many staff walking around in the background aimlessly not serving at the counters? After 45 minutes standing in line waiting to be seen at the Covid counter I finally got served and asked why I was there. I had the car transfer rego form filled and explained to the woman why I was there. She then proceeded to tell me I needed a Safety Certificate. I said I was exempt as I was simply removing my husbands name on a dual car registration. She said she couldn’t help me and to get a safety certificate from a mechanic. I knew this was incorrect information as on the QLD transport website it clearly states I was exempt. I drove to the other side of town to the QLD Transport centre in Harristown with no issues transferring the rego and was infact Exempt from needing the certificate. I payed $29 and had a minimal wait due to ALL staff working and serving behind their counters. I will never return to the QLD transport centre in Phillip St!! Having untrained staff or staff that just can’t be bothered knowing the rules man the front door is ridiculous.

Parking? None. Just wanted to renew my rego, staff member wasn't just rude but went on a personal rant. In the past I've found them very uninformed regarding change of vehicle ownership. They aren't accountable to supervisors who should be nearby to notice or care if the staff misbehave. Vicroads is the most professional set of transport departments I've seen, they leave qld & sa for dust & have no security screens or guards, because they work so well, issues are rare & resolved swiftly. Frankly when I see a security guard in Australia it tells me that the staff are incompetent because all those visiting are usually well-dressed, prepared and polite in comparison to the staff.

Opening hours are Wednesday 9.30 to 4.30; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8.30 to 4.30.
