Oceanic Bar + Grill

I love their alcoholic slushies! They have loads of different flavours. Lots of beers on tap to choose from. Their menu used to be bigger and we loved their pizzas but now they downgraded the menu. It's still good food though. We love going here when they have events on!And Happy Hour is a must! ud83dude02

As a first timer to this place I was actually surprised at how big it was and liked the set up. It has a pretty good atmosphere and seems to be a family friendly place, I can only base this on lunchtime visits though. The decor is pretty good and you can choose from bench type seating to bar height tables and booths.nnIf like me, you aren't a fan of loud music, you can find areas that aren't as invasive. That's not to say that the music was really loud, it wasn't, but I am one of those strange people who prefer a quieter atmosphere.nnFor my lunch I had the char grilled octopus salad and it was delicious. The photograph's really don't do it justice. It was a really good serving and the octopus really had that smokey charred flavour. That smokiness was further enhanced with the almost syrupy balsamic vinegar that dresses the salad. On a hot day with a nice, cold Fat Yak beer this salad really hit the mark. If I was to come back and have the same meal I would be keen to try it with a good wine.nnWould I return? Yes, absolutely. I would have liked to given the place five stars, however there were some disappointments with a lack of cutlery & napkins on the table. This meant that we had to raid another table to be able to eat our food. Also, some of the cushion covers may be beyond their regular life and need replacing as they looked a bit dirty.nnOverall though, it was an enjoyable lunch.

My wife and I decided to spend her birthday here tonight. We are regulars at the Oceanic mainly due to it’s location. We find that being on the water makes it a perfect place to be. While we have always found the food to be a bit hit or miss it has been acceptable on most occasions (just). Tonight was totally unacceptable. From the young bloke behind the bar who thought he was doing everybody a favour by being there to the standard of food. I had the Ribs ($35) that were very dry and stringy. They tasted like they had been in the Bain Marie for 3 Days and no way a full Rack (more like 1/2) the Coleslaw was dull and purple (not attractive at all). My Wife had the Seafood basket which you think couldn’t be stuffed up but indeed it was. She ate about 1/3 of it. We won’t be returning in a hurry. It’s a shame that people keep coming back due to the location and Management accept such low standards. I’m not one to Write reviews, in fact I think this is my first but I just can’t let it go as I am upset for my Wife. This is not how such an important celebration should end up.

Have they changed ownership recently because that is not the OBG I remember from a couple of months ago.  The only good thing about the place apart from the view is the beer.  The food we had today was terrible.  Hubby and I ordered a garlic bread and some bourbon ribs with triple cooked potatoes to share.  The garlic bread was cold and soaked in that much oil we couldn't eat it.  The ribs themselves were nice but the potatoes were disgusting.  Either oil soaked or dry to a crisp in the middle.  The coleslaw on the side definitely wasn't fresh so I didn't eat that either.  Won't be wasting my money again here any time soon.
