Extremely well priced and understanding of conducting removals of delicate items

Date: 21/12/2016nnSummary:n•tPaid a deposit to Precision Interstate to move a vehicle and two boats from Melbourne to Brisbane on Friday 9th Decembern•tPrecision contracted out the job to “Mark” who, as late as the morning of the move, said he would give us an ETA but he didn’t show and we haven’t heard from him since despite messages and callsn•tWe were hung out to dry and forced to drive two vehicles with two boats ourselvesn•tIn spite of this incredibly stressful 3-day drive, compensation has not been mentioned and, indeed, even our $410 deposit is still not returned as of 21st December because “things are tight around Christmas”n•tOur experience was not positiven•tPrecision Interstate Removals – certainly not recommendednnDetail:nWhen my husband and I decided to relocate from Melbourne to Brisbane I was nervous about the logistics. We were looking for a removalist company that could transport our household belongings, our second car, a canoe and a boat on a trailer. On the phone with Mack in October, Luke Whealing was confident and reassuring, explaining that his guys would transport our belongings door-to-door, and that the Precision Interstate Vehicle Transport Manager, Justin, would arrange the car/canoe/boat transportation. Luke Whealing of Precision Interstate was meticulous in getting details from Mack about sizes and numbers of household items. He seemed to genuinely enjoy the sorting out elements of his job. Luke Whealing of Precision Interstate provided a quote via email, and continued to provide regular updates once Mack had paid the deposit. So the moving day arrived (Thursday 8th December), and a company called Transcorp packed the container with expertise. Meanwhile, Justin had become Mark (from an unknown company) who would pick up the car/canoe/boat on Friday morning. However, this is when things started to go wrong. Mack alerted Luke Whealing to problems with Mark at 9:45am on Friday (Mark was not replying to texts, and his voicemail inbox was full).nnThis and subsequent texts to Luke Whealing of Precision Interstate went unanswered until 1:45pm, well after we had hoped to be on the road. Luke Whealing texted that he was in the hospital for x-rays and thus absolutely nothing was done to rectify this huge problem (including Luke Whealing’s contigency plan which disappeared) and thus at 5:30pm we had no choice but to do it ourselves. We set off in a convoy in peak-hour Friday afternoon Melbourne traffic, me towing the boat and Mack driving a car which was not prepared for the 1800km trip north. The level of stress this caused is another story which I won’t go into now.nnSuffice to say that Luke Whealing of Precision Interstate appears to rely on Justin’s Facebook page as a reference. Somehow, we arrived safely in Brisbane on Monday, took possession of the house and looked forward to receiving our belongings, as per the arrangement; however, the container did not arrive until four days later. In response to inquiries, Luke Whealing from Precision Interstate referred us to Nathan from Crusader Removals in Perth, another link in the chain. On Friday 16th, our container showed up, delivered by BrisVegas Removals. Who is responsible here?nnTo date, Mack has texted and spoken with Luke Whealing of Precision Interstate several times regarding our deposit of $410.00 paid to him on 27th October for the car/canoe/boat transportation. As of today, sadly, Luke Whealing has again fobbed us off about this refund saying, sorry mate, things are tight around Christmas. I cannot express enough my disappointment and a profound feeling of being let down. This sort of move is something that people do once, maybe twice (who knows?!) in their lifetime and I would not want to wish our experience on others. Anyone who has passed road trains on the Newell Highway in a 1.8L wagon towing a boat knows what I mean. Luke, would you let this happen to your wife? I don’t think so.
