Herberton Mining Museum

Great friendly place to visit for a gold coin donation.... the walk could have had a bit more info on the bits and pieces you see as you go around outside, and inside had a few things not operational which council should really invest in fixing but we enjoyed ourselves. The man at the desk was friendly and interactive. Toilet facilities clean and shops close by for lunch.... cheap cans of soft drink available with some great little local made souvenirs.

Everyone interested about Australian history should visit this place. I didn't expect much from this small museum, but surprised by how comprehensive and well presented the information here. It has a big picture knowledge from human migration path from Africa, sea level change, to timeline of Australian mining history, i.e. when where what mine discovered. There are also a good collection of stone specimens from different regions. Also the folks working there are quite knowledge and nice to talk to. Gram even showed me how to wash sand to get tin. Learned so much that day.

Fascinating and well presented look into the mining history of the region. Very impressed with the whole place but particularly the working scale model of an ore crushing and screening plant hand built by a local man. Well worth a visit.

Amazing place & the displays are unreal & so well exhibited . Volunteers doing a marvelous job. You need to spend a good couple of hrs. there to absorb all that's on offer. Wwell worth the drive to Herberton.

This is the best minning museum I've ever come across I highly recommend going here it is certainly worth the while
