Duende

So we didn't have a booking on a Saturday night. But as per the phone recording we showed up anyway in the hope they would have a table for 2. We were told that they were already at capacity due to covid numbers... As a matter of fact they were well over the allowed covid numbers and if an inspector arrived they would be in trouble. WHY tell that to someone? If you are already over, just BE over and accept the consequences by having a few more. Essentially you've just dobbed yourself in for doing the wrong thing first and foremost THEN turned guests away. Just say we're fully booked.. I would have been happy with that as an answer. Really disappointed guys! That's piss poor effort from a restaurant that I really liked and have visited plenty of times. As typical Perth.. Front of house had let this place down.

A very pleasurable experience! The dishes chosen were a delectable fusion of flavors that tantalised our taste buds. Started with mushrooms with blue cheese, candies pecans..., meatballs with mushrooms, goat+truffle foam..followed by braised beef cheek with, cauliflower and parsnip puree... Totally scrumptious! Great selection of wines. Service was good, friendly and helpful staff. Ambience, welcoming casual Spanish feel. I loved that we provided the server with a brief description of likes and dislikes and he chose the dishes. Spot on! A serious must experience. 11/10

Really enjoyed last night with 3 friends. Great service, great wine selection and great food. The lamb rump was superb and the empanadas were a hit. Thank you. Sue

I came back after having an excellent previous experience a few years ago. This time I was disappointed specifically with the customer service. The guy that answered my phone when I booked was very professional as well as one of the waitresses (Asian looking girl) she was very attentive and kind. But three things let us down greatly that night... First of all, they ran out sangria as soon as we arrived (at 19hs), and honestly, being Spanish, that was quite a surprise (in Spain this situation would be surprisingly rude and rare. Come on guys! Just mix red wine, sugar, cinnamon some fruit and add the bubbles, it's not alchemy). Then the youngest waiter was delivering the dishes on the table by just leaving them in front of us without having even eye contact, nor telling us what the dish was or who ordered what. I hope this kid learns the minimum of manners to work in hospitality because he wasn't even trying. He was leaving the plates in the corner of the table and disappearing. To make things worse, when we explained to the another waitress (the one with glasses) the situation she rolled her eyes at us. The food was good but again the whole experience wasn't very pleasant. I'll go to Rústico next time I want to have a Spanish experience in Perth. I'm sorry guys, I know you can be tired but I worked in hospitality before and this is not acceptable. Especially for a restaurant like Duende, where customers pay enough for a quality experience and whose reputation and standards should be better than this.

Food was superb.. Wanted more.. Great selection of wine and Tapas. Staff were excellent.. Atmosphere is very comfortable.
