Arctic Chalet Bed & Breakfast

Stephanie Koodrin verbally threatened revenge when she was not provided with a bogus invoice from me. She violated a short term rental agreement and had to leave. She wanted to submit a bogus claim for accommodation to her employer. I did not comply. Her behaviour and that of her unauthorized guest was unstable and volatile. I am not asking to have the post removed since warning others probably is a good idea.

I usually don’t write bad reviews but I don’t want anyone new to Yellowknife to get burned like I did. Lona is entrusive and disrespectful of personal space. Communication is poor. I stayed here while relocating to YK. Lona usually runs a bed and breakfast but does offer her suite to long term rentals. She told me I would be sharing this suite with another gentleman, which I agreed would be fine. This was not a bed and breakfast rental. It was long term. When long term rentals are occupying there needs to be knowledge of the landlord tenancy act....which Lona knows nothing of or just purposely refuses to follow. ****BE AWARE***. If you rent long term/month to month she does not abide by the land lord tenancy act. She does not give 24 hours notice to enter the suite. She does not respect personal space. She thinks that you only rent a room and can enter anytime she likes. AND SHE DOES NOT KNOCK BEFORE ENTERING. I documented 5 unannounced enteries in 3 weeks. There were some logistics to my relocation in which I did try to communicate with her but she left the issue till it bothered her then she turned on me. There are large French glass doors which make it easy to see directly into the suite. My boyfriend and I were cooking dinner when she did not even give a courtesy knock to enter, barged in, turned fans on, did not acknowledge us then turned and walked out the door. What if we were less than dressed when she allowed herself in?? Another time I was alone in bed alone around 830pm when she had entered the suite unannounced, did not knock and stood outside my bedroom door listening but did not say a thing. Then walked out. I was terrified. Then the next day about 6pm she entered again. No knock, no communication to ask if we could talk. She walked through the apartment and stood directly in my way while I was cooking. I felt very unsafe and intimidated. She said “she had come downstairs the night before and then told me she wanted me to vacate and gave me about a month and a week to do so. I asked “if I had done anything to insult her to bring this decision on?”. She replied with “no, it’s just crowded down her. I found myself alternate accommodation very quick and vacated. Also, the bed is horribly conclaved and the floors creeks so loud you can’t sleep. DO NOT STAY HERE!

There have a wonderful host. I haven the great memories in Yellowknife. She is so sweet,kindly and help us so much. I never forget the host.
