Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)

Their job is to serve and protect but they seem to think it’s to serve and collect.

RCMP officers from the Fernie detachment like to sit on a side road in-between the Super 8 and the Stanford Inn. They ticket drivers that are speeding up slightly before passing the 80km limit sign (heading out of Fernie). This does nothing for road safety, its a complete cash grab / cure for their boredom. Its petty actions like these that to lead law abiding citizens resenting Police. I would appreciate if the officers would do the speed enforcement from the Super 8 / Husky parking lot. If anyone is going over 65-70km there, they should be pulled over. But don't sit right where the speed limit changes, all your doing there is creating hostility between the public and police.

Accident on highway 3 at 2:50 pm, involving 3 vehicles. One person airlifted to hospital but it took RCMP over 7 hours to open the road with 2 of the 3 vehicles able to be driven to the side of the road leaving an RV in pieces to be cleaned up so traffic could go through. It's been and gone on the news and its 1011pm and the road is still not opened, officers trying to figure out how a semi truck rear ended a motorhome on highway. Not hard to figure out and highway should have been open hours ago! Fatalities dont even take this long!
