I used to work for this company a number of years ago, and I watched my grandmother die in palliative care for 9 days after a sudden and massive stroke, and I was in contact with work the entire time I was in hospice. Upon my return to work the day after she died they fired me because they said I was only entitled to 3 days of bereavement leave. Terrible employer. This was a few years ago but I have never forgotten it. After enduring the trauma of watching someone who raised me die so brutally, they callously slapped an envelope on the desk and that was it. No sorry for your loss, just we're terminating your employment. Up to this point I had been a highly reliable and hard working employee.
