Assiniboine Gordon Inn on the Park

I arrived November 11, 2020 and upon attempting to check in ( 4:45 PM ) in snow and wind and freezing temperatures found ALL doors to the Building LOCKED . Using my cell phone, I phoned the number listed and received the Executive Offices and was told to leave a message. I attempted to knock loudly on ALL DOOR'S but no one responded. Noting a Beer Store ( owned by the same Hotel ), ... but located some 75 yards distant, ... i asked for assistance and was told to wait under the canopy at the back ( west side of the main hotel/motel. I waited approximately 10 minutes and was then met by an older gentleman who took my booking BUT ASKED AND RECEIVED a $ 250.00 DAMAGE DEPOSIT ?? ), plus my room rent $ 95.00 plus applicable taxes. I was then given a swipe card and proceeded to unload my personal belongings into room 38. Room 38 was cold, so I turned up the HEAT and left the Motel to get my dinner and warm up at a restaurant, Upon returning to the Motel, ... I found my card swipe would no longer open the door. I walked back to the office and again pounded on the doors front and back to no avail. After waiting about 10 minutes in my vehicle to warm up, I again attempted to get someone's attention and finally succeeded. I was issued a new card which worked, ... but found the ROOM still very COLD. Fortunately I had packed extra blankets and went to bed. I awoke at 3:00 AM to snow and the room still cold. I started up the van and warmed up before returning to my room to try and get some sleep. I was up most of the night alternating between the room and my van. I tried to checked out at 11:00 AM on Thursday November 12 after having had breakfast at a DRIVE THRU FAST FOOD ( only allowed under Covid 19 lock down ). I pounded on the front door to no avail and then the west door for a few more minutes until a small oriental girl allowed me in. I complained but she either did not understand or pretended not to understand. I will NEVER stay at this establishment again even though I have used this Hotel/Motel for the past 40 YEARS. They have gone downhill too. too far ! NOTE: As of today's date November 26, 2020, I did receive from Assiniboine Gordon Hotels Ltd. a letter of apology with an offer of ONE NIGHTS FREE ACCOMODATION. This I accept with gratitude, as the letter also stated the problem of HEAT will be corrected immediately. Thank you.

This hotel has private balconies and main floor has private entrance, rare these days in hotel rooms, very convenient for the smokers out there

The breakfast special great value. Staff great.
