Absolutely amazing place! Here is a rescue where they actually care about the animals as opposed to just trying to make a profit. The volunteers and workers here are very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do, and the genuinely have the animals' best interests at heart! There are some animals here that they are working toward release, but others who unfortunately will have to be permanent residents, usually because they have spent much of their lives being pets, and some because they have been too severely injured. All are treated humanely, none of this "posing with humans for photo ops" that you see at some of the other supposed "rescues." Here, they truly do everything they can to release these animals to the wild. It's not just a glorified zoo. I would recommend this place to anybody who is curious what a real animal rescue is like...how it functions, the roles of the workers, everything. We stayed the night in the one cabin they have on the property. It was wonderful falling asleep to the owls and waking up to the toucans and the oropendola! (A bird with a very interesting sound AND look.) I would go here again in a heartbeat...it truly was a once in a lifetime experience. I also plan on gifting the virtual tour (available on Amazon.com) to some of my loved ones who I know will likely never make it to Costa Rica. Not only would I love for them to get some semblance of the experience, but I would also be supporting this wonderful establishment, so it's a definite win-win!

This was such a cute place to visit! I did not get to see sloths at all in Costa Rica until I came here. The tour guide and volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable of all the animals. I learned so much and would recommend visiting here 100% if in Costa Rica.

Very interesting tour and a lot of information. Great to know have such places and helping to rescue the animals, mostly caught by humans as pet....or for blackmarket. Compliment and very recommended to spend this 2 hours to see and learn. Great to have prople to do such things in their freezing, even knowing it is only a small drop on the hot stone. Beside this i also learned a small things, could cause big effect. Throwing fruit out off the car, calls the rat ans maybe the rat getting kolled by car when it is on the street. So no real big problem....... but the rat is the food of the owl and so the owl eat the rat on the street and............ never thought about.

I visited this place with my five-year-old daughter and it was a perfect afternoon excursion. The baby sloths were an amazing highlight. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, professional and patient. For sloth fans this is a must see! Don't make the same mistake I did when bringing kids. Pack snacks because there is no restaurant and only Chocolates for sale at the gift shop.
