The test drilling started in 1850 as the St. Nikolaus colliery, but the actual production did not begin until 1862, then under the name Pluto. It was connected to the Cologne-Mindener Railway in 1861. The "Doppelbock" conveyor frame can still be seen today as a landmark. It is to be hoped that the monument will be preserved (against the will of the RAG). However, it involves a considerable amount of effort.

Unfortunately not illuminated at night, probably for financial reasons and due to a lack of attraction.
