The old lock in Wanne-Eickel is one of two locks on the fourth of five canal stages along the course of the Rhine-Herne Canal. It was completed in 1914 and it is actually planned to rebuild it as well. It was used as a replacement lock, but had to be shut down in 2003 due to damage.

The old lock is almost next to the next lock. You can take a short break here if you go on a bike tour on the Rhine Herne Canal, for example. You can watch the ships calmly passing through the locks.
