A good friend of ours and a connoisseur of the art scene suddenly left speechless on his first visit to Ludwigshafen leaving the central station and said, "Wow, is that a George Rickey?" We Ludwigshafener generally do not know that there is an artwork of international standing on the Berliner Platz. But we just loved it when it is so huge in our central place and can be moved by the wind. Sometimes, we think, the hooks form a U, sometimes we see the L in the foreground - and we want it: it's called LU. Whether the artist really thought so, that's not certain, but it does not matter to us now. It's great when the pool is filled to the brim in the summer and Berlin's square is reflected in the calm of the water. Stimulating and yet soothing, the movement of the two elements is high up. The "RICKEY" is a gift from BASF to the citizens of the city of Ludwigshafen at the turn of the millennium 👍
