Nice trail that goes in a long loop. Parking on street available and trail starts at train station. Good place to exercise outdoors!

O! My! God! This burg has everything! History, beauty and it's a great form of exercise to get to the top let me tell ya! It is all worth it for the beautiful views and the sense of peace you feel. Just watch out for the goats...😬

My experience goes back slightly over 50 years. My father was stationed in Kaiserslautern and we lived on the base which was next to the village of Hoenecken. My friends and I would hike up the mountain to explore along the way and the castle. I will never forget crawling on my belly through the outer wall to the inside wall. I see that they now have bricked up and added a door to the opening to prevent anyone from going through. There were no railings or picnic tables but it was the perfect place for my friends and I to play and use our imaginations. Fond memories for me I will cherish always!
