This bike shop has very reasonable rates on bike rentals, and easy to deal with even if you don't speak German. Also, the shop is close to the train station for easy return on your way out of town. They only take cash.

There's several good bike shops in the area, this isn't one. Go somewhere else up the road. My bike broke after 10k on a 50k ride (the pedals spun and wouldn't engage no matter what I did). Had to leave the bike in a different city. Ruined a full vacation day since my family had to ride back and get our car to rescue me. Worst part was losing a full day of my too short vacation but at least I'd get my money back. No, I was wrong, not only would they not refund me for the broken bike they blamed me and threatened to make me pay for repairs on the €4000 bike. Maybe it cost that much 12 years ago, but it was junk. Their bikes now are junk. Many insults by their employee were sent my way though I didn't understand most of them. I did pick up on the fact that they hate people that don't speak German. Maybe I accidentally stumbled into a German right wing place that hates English speakers. Anyway, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. This place is literally the only terrible experience I've had in Germany.

A very friendly employee served us. Reserved by phone shortly after the shop opened and we got the bikes we wanted. All fully functional. Fair price. Thanks again

Rented bikes and in the evening we were in the dark because the lights on both bikes were broken. The next day and we were told that most of them come back in the light and don't need any light. I was horrified and referred to the traffic regulations and the self-image that light has to work. Bikes were repaired with the result that the back light on my bike did not work in the evening and it was as weak as a tea light in the front. Never again !!! One star is still too many.
